Description

The Scope of this project is the removal, blasting and painting, and reinstallation of the vertical lift gates and sector gate fenders. Removal and transportation occurred via crane-loaded barges. Sanding and blasting was performed offsite. Debris removal at the structure were determined after underwater inspections. The greatest challenges behind this project were the safe removal and reinstallation of the 220,000 lb. lift gates, prevention of weathering during the cleaning process, and ensuring the lift gates were back in place before June 1st, the beginning of hurricane season.
