Description

The GIWW, Texas, Channel to Victoria, Beneficial Use Site NO.3 Improvements Project is a USACE Galveston District Project including coastal navigation and environmental restoration. This project is new construction of a 2,000 LF rock dike structure and warning signs along San Antonio Bay in Calhoun County, Texas. This project includes the installation of geotextile, blanket stone, riprap, timber piles, and warning signs.

This project is within the designated critical habitat winter grounds for the endangered species, Whooping Cranes. Pontchartrain Partners, LLC personnel have been trained by the International Crane Foundation to identify Whooping Cranes as well as the proper protocol to follow if a Whooping Crane is sighted within the jobsite area. Pontchartrain Partners, LLC has a designated, trained Whooping Crane observer to log Whooping Crane sightings and ensure the proper protocol is taken if a Whooping Crane is sighted within the job site area.
